Manchester United icon sends transfer message to Ten Hag over signing Osimhen
Published: January 20, 2023
Manchester United icon Andy Cole has sent a transfer message to manager Erik ten Hag over Victor Osimhen, urging the Dutchman to make a move for the Nigeria national teamer in the summer.
Osimhen has been in brilliant form since his move to Napoli and his standards have not dropped this season as he is topping the Serie A goalscoring charts with twelve goals in fourteen appearances,
The 24-year-old is on the radar of some Premier League clubs on the back of his form, with Manchester United and Newcastle United among his suitors.
The stumbling block to a deal is his price tag as Napoli have valued him at more than 100 million euros.
The Red Devils recently bolstered their attack with the capture of Wout Weghorst on loan but it was only a stopgap solution as the 2022 World Cup star is expected to return to parent club Burnley at the end of the season.
"I think Victor Osimhen at Napoli is very good and could be the long-term natural fit. The question is whether Napoli would be prepared to let him go, " Cole told Betway.
‘He’s rangy, got a good first touch, scores goals and is a decent size as well. I watched him play against Liverpool and he was more than prepared to link the play and then run in behind."
Should Osimhen sign for Manchester United, he could become the second Nigerian-born player to play for their first team after his mentor Odion Ighalo.
