Nigerian tactician in the frame to be appointed Chelsea U18s new coach
Published: February 11, 2023Nigerian football tactician Hassan Sulaiman is reportedly in the frame to be appointed as the new coach of Chelsea U18s team.
Ed Brand, who coached Chelsea U18s at the start of the season, is set to become Jody Morris' assistant at League One club Swindon Town.
Brand's imminent departure to Swindon Town opened up a managerial vacancy at Chelsea U18s.
According to Blues insider, Chelsea Youth via Twitter, Sulaiman is set to be named as Brand's successor in due course.
The Nigerian was in the Chelsea U18s dugout, on an interim basis, as they claimed an impressive 3-1 road win over Southern section league leaders West Ham United on Saturday, February 11.
Two teenagers of Nigerian descent were involved in two of the three goals netted by Chelsea, with Louis Flower getting he assist for the opener and Tudor Mendel-Idowu wrapping up the scoring.
Sulaiman worked with a number of younger age groups at Chelsea before making the step up to the U16s.
He is qualified to coach Chelsea U18s as he is the holder of a UEFA A License, which allows him to be head coach of youth teams up to age 18.
