Published: February 23, 2023
With a statement on their official website, 14-time Polish champions Wisla Krakow have announced the signing of James Igbekeme.
The 27-year-old joins the White Star from Spanish club Real Zaragoza on a temporary transfer that will be valid until June 30, 2023.
The exciting midfielder who started his career at All-Stars FC Effurun at Uvwie LGA of Delta State was a teammate of Super Eagles star, Oghenekaro Etebo at Warri Wolves Feeders before making his move to Portuguese side G.D. Ribeirão in 2013 through the efforts of Nigerian scout Paul Ojo.
Igbekeme had stops at Oliveirense and Gil Vicente before joining Real Zaragoza in 2018.
Since his arrival at the 1995 UEFA Cup Winners Cup winners, he has appeared in 104 official matches, scoring four goals while providing six assists.
He joined Columbus Crew on a season-long loan last January with an option to acquire him on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign, but he returned to his parent club as the option was declined by the Major League Soccer club.
Kelechi Iheanacho, ex-Flying Eagles star Emmanuel Sarki, and Super Eagles' 2010 World Cup star Kalu Uche played for Wisla Krakow in the past.
