Exciting teenage Nigerian winger added to Arsenal's Europa League squad pre-Sporting CP
Published: March 07, 2023
Exciting Dutch-born Nigerian winger Joel Ideho has been added to Arsenal's Europa League squad ahead of their trip to Lisbon to face Portuguese powerhouse Sporting CP.
Ideho was not originally included in the squad list at the start of the season but the 2023 Flying Eagles invitee is now eligible to represent the Gunners in the competition as he has been on the books of the Emirates outfit for more than two years.
Signed from Ajax Amsterdam in October 2020, the 19-year-old Ideho has been included on Arsenal's List B for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
For the 2022-2023 season, a player may be included on the List B if he is born on or after January 1, 2001 and has been eligible to play for the club for an uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday.
Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, although the list must be submitted the day before each match.
If manger Mikel Arteta selects Ideho in the matchday squad versus Sporting CP, the attack-minded player will be wearing the number 57 at the back of his jersey.
Ideho has yet to make his professional debut since joining Arsenal but has often been invited to train with the first team stars.
Arsenal will battle Sporting CP in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Thursday, starting from 1845 hours.
