Should Super Eagles defender Bassey consider a move to Everton?

Versatile Ajax defender Calvin Bassey is being touted a player who suits Everton's style of play, according to Dutch journalist Pieter Zwart.
Bassey who joined the Dutch Eredivisie side last summer has struggled to adapt to life in the Netherlands and it is already being reported that his future might lie elsewhere.
Writing on Voetbal International, Zwart said : "For someone who is quite tall, he can also be poor in the air. I have my doubts. I think he will never really be a great success, but Ajax will make money from him.
"For the style of play of a club like Everton, he is a perfect defender. He is also considered to have been trained in England, so as Ajax you are going to take money for him."
While Bassey has struggled to his start to life at Ajax, it is ridiculous to write off a player who has barely spent a season at a club.
There have been several instances when players have struggled to find their feet at a new club especially after moving from a different country.
A good instance is Victor Osimhen who struggled at the start of his Napoli career with form and injuries and has now become the best striker in Serie A.
The same thing could happen to Bassey and we might have started seeing improvement in his game following his brilliant performance last weekend when he shone in Ajax's victory over NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie.
A move from from Ajax to Everton makes no sense for Bassey at this point of his career.
At Ajax, he stands a chance of playing with better players, winning trophies and playing in the biggest club competition which is the UEFA Champions League.
The reverse is the case at Everton who might get relegated at the end of this season and at their best are a mid-table Premier League club.
It is a big downgrade to move from playing for one of the biggest sides in Europe to a struggling Premier League team.
If Bassey can be replicate the solid display he had last week consistently, there is no doubt that he will become a vital player for Ajax, win trophies and move on to a bigger club and not a team like Everton.
