A round up of the Nigerian players that scored or assisted for their respective clubs in the round of sixteen, first leg ties of the Europa league and Europa Conference League on Thursday, March 9.
In a Europa League match at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Union Berlin and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, with the German Bundesliga side leveling three times.
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface opened the scoring with a long-range strike which hit the back of the net, albeit via a deflection in the 28th minute.
With eighteen minutes left on the clock, Boniface got his second of the evening with a brilliant left-footed finish, taking his tally in the Europa League to five goals.
The 22-year-old is the joint-top scorer in the UEL, an honour he shares with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford who found the net against Real Betis at Old Trafford tonight.
In the Europa Conference League, Samuel Chukwueze continued his rich vein of form as Villarreal and RSC Anderlecht shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Lotto Park.
Manu Trigueros, on 28 minutes, broke the deadlock after Chukwueze lifted the ball across the box and fed him.
The Nigeria international, with his pace and trickery, caused the most problems for the Anderlecht defenders before he was substituted just before the hour mark.
Elsewhere, Gift Orban continues to make his mark at KAA Gent after his winter move from Stabæk Fotball in Norway.
The 20-year-old netted his fifth goal in Gent colours as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stefano Okaka's İstanbul Başakşehir.
After the Italian-Nigerian opened the scoring with a header in the 18th minute, Orban bundled in the equaliser following a goalmouth scramble.
