Three Guinea-Bissau players Super Eagles must be wary of in AFCONQ
Published: March 11, 2023
The Super Eagles will face the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau over two legs in matchday 3 and matchday 4 respectively of the Africa cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria won their first two matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe while Guinea-Bissau on the other hand won their first match against Sao Tome and Principe and drew against Sierra Leone.
Below are three players the Super Eagles must be wary of ahead of the two-legged tie against Baciro Cande's men
1) Jorginho Intima: The left winger has been one of the best players of Guinea-Bissau since the start of the AFCONQ.
Jorginho bagged two goals in the 5-1 decimation of Sao Tome and Principe and scored again in the 2-2 draw against Sierra Leone. The Super Eagles must keep him quiet to avoid an upset
2. Zinho Gano: The Guinea Bissau striker can also be a thorn in the flesh of any defence. He scored 3 matches in his first three caps for Guinea-Bissau.
Gano's form for his club,Zulte Waregem in the Jupiler Pro League cannot be neglected too. He has scored 9 goals and registered 3 assists in 15 appearances so far in this campaign.
Though he will have to slug it out with the more experienced Mama Balde, the Super Eagles will still need to keep a close eye on him, whether he starts or comes off the bench.
3.Mama Balde: The Troyes striker has been in decent form for the Ligue 1 side. He has 10 goals and 4 assists in 23 games.
While he has not been prolific for his country scoring 1 goal so far in 17 games, the Super Eagles must be hoping he doesn't replicate his club form with his country.
