Leicester v Chelsea : Which of Iheanacho and Havertz could be more influential?
Published: March 11, 2023
Kelechi Iheanacho and Kai Havertz are two players that could influence the result between Leicester City and Chelsea at the King Power Stadium as the two former champions do battle in the English Premier League.
Chelsea would be hoping to make it back-to-back victories in the Premier League after beating Leeds United last weekend, while the Foxes are aiming to return to winning ways after three defeats on the spin.
Havertz has 5 goals and 1 assist in 24 appearances this season for Chelsea in the Premier League while Iheanacho has 3 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances for Leicester City.
This implies that Havertz is averaging more goals per game than Iheancho but the Nigerian edges him for goal contributions per game (goal/assist).
Looking at the form book, it is the Nigerian that edges the German striker. Iheanacho has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 appearances though he is yet to score or assist in his last 3 games while Havertz is yet to score or assist in his last 5 games for Chelsea.
Interestingly, Havertz is yet to score or assist in all his 5 appearances for Chelsea against Leicester while Iheanacho has 1 goal in 13 appearances against Chelsea.
Based on the foregoing, it can be safely said that Iheanacho would be more influential but we all know football is not played on paper.
More so, the form and antecedent of these two players doesn't fill one with confidence to say that one would be influential than the other. It is not beyond both Havertz and Iheanacho not to have any impact in this game.
Regardless of how both performs, it should be an interesting encounter between Leicester City and Chelsea as the Foxes continue their fight against relegation while Chelsea seek to clinch one of the continental places.
