Man City boss Guardiola labels two former Super Eagles invitees 'incredible strikers'
Published: March 12, 2023
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had nothing but positive words to say about two former Super Eagles invitees in the shape of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze after the reigning champions registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.
Olise started and was in action for ninety minutes, while Eze entered the game as a substitute shortly after Manchester City netted the only game of the game through Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland.
The Eagles defended well for over seventy minutes, but Olise lost concentration and gave away a penalty after he clattered into Ilkay Gundogan in the box.
That was the only blot to his copybook as the France U21 international had a good game and was also good out of possession.
Eze had a major chance to equalize for the Eagles but saw his shot deflect wide for a corner with five minutes left on the clock.
Guardiola admitted that Crystal Palace have a lethal attack with Eze, Olise and Wilfried Zaha capable of wreaking havoc.
In quotes relayed by the BBC, the Spanish football tactician said on Sky Sports : "They have weapons. [Wilfried] Zaha is there, [Michael] Olise, [Eberechi] Eze, they are incredible strikers and they have incredible threat.
"They have composure, great attacking players. It is a question of patience. They will waste time so we have to push to do it."
After 26 games in the Premier League, twelves goals have been scored between Zaha, Olise and Eze.
