AC Milan and Inter keen on signing Arsenal-owned Super Eagles-eligible striker
Published: March 13, 2023
According to celebrated Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan and their city rivals Inter are both interested in signing Super Eagles-eligible striker Folarin Balogun.
Per the report, AC Milan are keen on signing the Arsenal-owned center forward for next season, and Inter have been monitoring him for a while and also asked for information.
Milan are in the market for a striker as they seek a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud, while Divock Origi has failed to deliver since his summer move from Liverpool with two goals in 23 games.
As for Inter Milan, Edin Dzeko comes off contract at the end of the season and Romelu Lukaku may be returning to parent club Chelsea.
Balogun has been one of the revelations of the Ligue 1 this term, scoring 16 goals in 26 appearances, and is currently the third highest scorer in the division behind Lille's Jonathan David and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The Hale End Academy graduate is also attracting interest from Premier League clubs, and has also been linked with Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Arsenal will make a decision on the future of Balogun at the end of the season, whether to keep, sell him, or loan him out for a third time.
The 21-year-old signed a new contract with the Gunners in 2021, a deal that is supposed to keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 30, 2025.
