Cardiff City hand trial to Nottingham Forest's Nigerian player with a view to potential transfer
Published: March 20, 2023Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Championship outfit Cardiff City have handed a trial to promising Nigerian central defender Osa Solomon.
The 19-year-old is currently on the books of English Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest and was supposed to spend the remainder of the season at Southern League Premier Division Central club Redditch United but cut short his loan spell at the non-leaguers two weeks ago.
Solomon will begin training with the Bluebirds as from Tuesday, March 21, with a view to a transfer ahead of the summer transfer window.
The trial will last for at least five days and he is scheduled to take part in a test game this coming Friday before a decision is made on whether or not to offer him a contract.
Solomon has been compared to former Nigeria Football Federation target and Chelsea academy product Fikayo Tomori due to his style of play.
The teenager, who is capable of playing at right-back, is a ball-playing central defender, good in one-v-one situations, heading and tackling.
Everything is pointing to the fact that he will be leaving Nottingham Forest as a free agent at the end of the season as talks on a new deal have not even started, approximately three months to the end of his contract with the two-time European champions.
Championship and League One teams are monitoring his situation, but Cardiff City have stolen a march on their Football League rivals by handing him a trial.
