Arsenal loanee Balogun breaks another record after scoring late equaliser against Brest

Arsenal-owned forward Folarin Balogun broke another record after scoring his 18th league goal of the season in Stade de Reims 1-1 draw with Brest on Sunday.

Balogun got his goal through the penalty spot in the 91st minute after Arbër Zeneli was brought down in the penalty area.

The England U21 international of Nigerian descent has now broken the record for most goals scored by a Reims player in a single season in Ligue 1 in the 21st century, according to the official website of Ligue 1.

He also equaled Glenn Hoddle's best scoring season in the French top-flight which the retired England international set in the 1988-1989 campaign.

The Arsenal loanee joined Reims on a loan deal last summer and has been a pivotal player for the Red and Whites.

The Nigerian-eligible striker has 18 goals and 3 assists in 29 appearances in the league and has only failed to score or assist in 13 Ligue 1 games this season.

The longest he has gone without scoring or assisting in the league is 3 games just to show his consistency.

Balogun whose loan deal with Reims ends in the summer is also eyeing the top scorer award as he is just one goal shy of joint top scorers, Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David who have registered 19 goals respectively.
