Official : Dean Smith to coach Iheanacho, Ndidi at Leicester until season's end
Published: April 10, 2023The Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have a new manager at Leicester City in Dean Smith who will be in charge of the Foxes till the end of the season.
The Foxes had intended to appoint a permanent manager after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers last week and approached former Leeds United coach, Jesse Marsch but both parties could not reach a mutual agreement.
Smith is an experienced manager, having previously been in charge of Norwich City, Aston Villa and Brentford, and has been saddled with the responsibility of preserving Leicester City's Premier League status.
Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, while speaking on Smith's appointment, told the club's official website: "On behalf of everyone at Leicester City, I'd like to offer Dean a warm welcome to the Football Club.
"His leadership, coaching and motivational qualities will be vital assets for us in the coming eight games as we fight to secure our Premier League status."
Leicester City sits 19th on the Premier League standings with 25 points and Smith has 8 games to protect the Premier League status of his new employers.
It hasn't been a great season for Iheanacho and Ndidi as both have struggled to nail a permanent place in the starting XI and will be hoping Smith has them in his plans.
