Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka will not make Champions League debut v Real Madrid

England U20 international of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka will not make his UEFA Champions League debut when Chelsea take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea's caretaker boss Frank Lampard has taken twenty four players to the Spanish capital and Chukwuemeka has not traveled with the squad to Madrid.

This would be the second consecutive game in which the former Aston Villa wonderkid has not been selected in the matchday squad since the appointment of Lampard as caretaker manager as he was left out of the squad for the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

Chukwuemeka has received six call-ups for Champions League matches since his move to Chelsea last summer but has yet to make his debut in the competition.

The 19-year-old was on the bench against Dinamo Zagreb, Salzburg (2), AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund home and away.

Mason Mount, Enzo Fernandez, N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher were the midfielders that boarded the plane to Madrid

Meanwhile, another player of Nigerian descent in Noni Madueke is ineligible to be fielded against Los Blancos as he has not been registered for the knockout rounds of the competition.

The former PSV Eindhoven winger was not called up for the Premier League clash at Wolves, which was Lampard's first game in charge on his return to Chelsea.
