Arsenal youth product Akpom quadruple-nominated for Middlesbrough's Goal of the Season
Published: April 13, 2023Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom is in the running for Middlesbrough's Goal of the Season award.
The sensational forward has bagged 26 goals for Middlesbrough in the Championship this season and four of them have been nominated for Boro's Goal of the Season.
The first was the third goal he scored against Wigan Athletic at the Riverside Stadium on Boxing Day when he expertly drove the ball home from a Ryan Giles cross.
Also nominated were his two goals against Blackpool at the Riverside Stadium in February.
The first goal came when he cut to his right foot to beat the goalkeeper following a brilliant team move while the second was when he was at the right place to finish a perfect team play.
The fourth goal nominated was Akpom's goal away at Sheffield United when he glided past his marker before finding the bottom left corner.
Goals from Hayden Hackney, Riley McGree (2), Marcus Forss (2) and Cameron Archer have also made the 10-goal shortlist.
Akpom is also in contention for Boro's Player of the Year award
