Chelsea striker beats Crystal Palace's Irish-Nigerian defender to Premier League 2 POTM
Published: April 14, 2023Chelsea striker Mason Burstow has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for March 2023.
A total of seven players had been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month after being selected by the Premier League's Football Development Panel.
Crystal Palace defender Tayo Adaramola was recognized for his brilliant performances last month with a nomination for the award but the Republic of Ireland underage international of Nigerian descent missed out on the prize.
Other nominees were Kian Breckin (Manchester City); Luca Barrington (Brighton & Hove Albion); Sonny Perkins (Leeds United); Jeremy Sivi (Middlesbrough) and Layton Stewart (Liverpool).
Adaramola went the full ninety in every single game contested by the Eagles development squad in the Premier League 2 last month, helping them record victories in tricky fixtures against Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 19-year-old created the opening goal in Palace's 2-0 win over Arsenal on March 17.
Adaramola has received three call-ups to Palace's first team and featured in two of those games - against Hartlepool United and Stoke City in the 2021-2022 season.
He has been on the books of Crystal Palace since U12 level and signed his first professional contract in 2020.
