On-loan Man Utd midfielder of Nigerian descent scores in back-to-back away games
Published: April 16, 2023Manchester United-owned midfielder Maxi Oyedele has surpassed expectations at National League club Altrincham FC, whom he joined on loan in the January transfer window.
Altrincham went down to a 3-2 defeat to Dorking Wanderers despite their great start to the game as they were leading by two goals but conceded thrice to suffer their second loss in the space of five days.
In the fifth minute, Regan Linney chipped the Dorking Wanderers goalkeeper to give the visitors a fantastic start.
Oyedele, after a mistake by the Dorking Wanderers defence, doubled the advantage for The Robins in the eighth minute, but goals from Jimmy Muitt, Harry Ottaway and Jason Prior secured a win for the home team.
Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson has relied on the 18-year-old Oyedele since his return to the club at the end of last month after helping Poland qualify for the European U19 Championship.
And the Anglo-Polish-Nigerian starlet has repaid the faith of the manager by finding the net in back-to-back away matches.
Oyedele got on the score sheet against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on April 7, before his strike at the Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday, which took his tally to four goals in eleven league matches.
