'Balogun is on the list for sure' - Fabrizio Romano confirms Arsenal striker is a target for German club
Published: April 17, 2023
Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig hold a concrete interest in Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun.
Allnigeriasoccer.com broke the news more than a month ago that RB Leipzig are among the clubs in the big five European Leagues keeping tabs on the England U21 international of Nigerian descent.
Balogun joined Stade de Reims last summer without an option to buy included in the deal taking him to the French Ligue 1 side.
The 21-year-old has proved his mettle in the Ligue 1, scoring eighteen goals from thirty games played, a tally bettered only by three other strikers namely Jonathan David, Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette.
RB Leipzig are in the market for a new striker with Christopher Nkunku expected to complete his move to Chelsea at the end of the season.
Balogun has made it clear he wants to be playing regular first team football whether it is at Arsenal or somewhere else.
Writing in his column for Caughtoffside, Romano said : "RB Leipzig will sign a new striker for sure. Jonathan David is appreciated but too expensive, almost impossible; Balogun is in the list for sure but there are many clubs keen on signing him.
"I think the best option for Balogun is to be a regular starter also next season, he needs to play again and again.”
Balogun has approximately two years left on his contract with Arsenal, whom he joined at the age of eight.
