On-loan Red Devil Oyedele nominated for Altrincham Goal of the Season
Published: April 19, 2023
Manchester United-owned midfielder Maxi Oyedele is in the running for Altrincham's Goal of the Season award.
The Poland U19 international of Nigerian descent has been shortlisted for his fantastic volley during Altrincham's 2-2 draw with Oldham Athletic in a National League match at Boundary Park on Good Friday.
With ten minutes left on the clock, it seemed Altrincham were dead and buried as they trailed by two goals until Oyedele halved the deficit with a sensational strike.
A left-footed outswinging corner by Eddy Jones was half-cleared by the Latics defence and it fell kindly to Oyedele, who unleashed a spectacular first time volley from 25 yards that flew past goalkeeper Magnus Norman.
Of the twenty goals that made it to the semifinals, the ten most-voted for goals will advance to the final round of voting, along with Regan Linney's goal at Dorking Wanderers this past Saturday, which was awarded a bye into the final.
Also nominated for the Goal of the Season are Egli Kaja, Aaron Bennett (3), Josh Lundstram, Marcus Dinanga, Jordan Hulme (3), Chris Conn-Clarke (4), Elliot Newby, Ryan Colclough, Miles Welch-Hayes, Tyrese Sinclair, Joe Hugill and James Jones.
Oyedele has totaled twelve appearances for the Robins since his loan move from Manchester United in the January transfer window, and has been on the score sheet on four occasions.
