Pundit explains how the understanding between Olise and Eze has improved under Hodgson
Published: April 21, 2023Premier League pundit Adrian Clarke has highlighted how the understanding between Super Eagles-eligible duo of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze has improved under new Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson.
Both have proven to be vital for Hodgson, who has won all three of his matches since his return to the Eagles. The duo have registered 6 goal contributions under the former Liverpool manager.
Hodgson has deployed Eze on the right-hand side of the midfield, giving him the freedom to run into the attacking third while Olise has played as a right winger in a 4-3-3 formation.
Olise has recorded three assists under the English manager, which he registered in the Eagles' 5-1 win over Leeds United.
Eze, who had lost his place in Palace's first XI under former manager Patrick Viera, was restored to the starting XI by Hodgson and has repaid the faith his new manager has in him with three goals in his last three games.
Clarke in his article Talking Tactics on the Premier League website identified how the understanding of the duo has improved under the new manager.
"Eze's on-pitch relationship with Michael Olise has also blossomed. The duo have shared 47 passes across the last three matches, working well in tandem down the right side," he wrote.
"This weekend Everton must do their best to tame their chemistry, as Olise has provided assists for four of Eze’s seven top-flight goals this season.
"Hodgson’s Eagles are flying right now, and so too is this gifted young pairing."
Olise has recorded two goals and eight assists so far in this campaign while Eze has seven goals and three assists.
