Transfer guru insists Chelsea still in the race to sign Manchester United target Osimhen
Published: April 25, 2023
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Chelsea are still in the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen despite reports that Manchester United are in pole position to sign the Nigerian forward.
Osimhen is enjoying a prolific season with Napoli this season, leading the Little Donkey's quest for the league title for the first time in more than three decades by registering 21 goals in the Italian Serie A.
Chelsea have struggled for goals all season. Only Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest, Everton and Southampton have scored fewer goals than the Blues in the Premier League this season and they have identified Osimhen as the solution to their goalscoring woes.
A report had earlier claimed that due to financial constraints, Chelsea might no longer be able to continue their pursuit of the Napoli striker, which has placed Manchester United in pole position for his signature.
However, that claim has been debunked by Romano. While writing in his daily column for Caughtoffside, the Italian journalist insists that the race for Osimhen's signature is still wide open.
He added that the asking price for Osimhen has not been determined and nothing about his next move has been decided yet.
