Leicester City's Super Eagles-eligible GK nominated for PL2 Save of the Season
Published: April 28, 2023
Leicester City's Super Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Chituru Odunze has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Save of the Season award, informs the Foxes on their official webpage.
Odunze, who spent three years with Chelsea, joined Leicester City in 2019 after spells with the Calgary Villains, Calgary Blizzard, Calgary Foothills and Vancouver Whitecaps.
The United States underage international of Nigerian descent is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Leicester City's development squad.
The 20-year-old has been decent in goal this season in Premier League 2, with memorable performances against Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United and was also exceptional in Leicester's penalty shootout victory against Bradford City in the Papa Johns Trophy.
It is Odunze's big save in a 3-1 win over West Ham United back in August that has been nominated for the Save of the Season award.
The young shot-stopper has started 19 of the 22 games he has been named in the matchday squad and has been an unused substitute three times for the young Foxes in the Premier League 2.
Odunze has received three call-ups for first team matches but was a non-playing substitute against Rennes twice and PSV Eindhoven in last season's Europa Conference League.
