Third consecutive clean sheet for Arsenal-owned goalkeeper on the radar of Nigeria
Published: May 01, 2023
Arsenal-owned goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri continued his rich vein of form in the Finnish Veikkausliiga with another clean sheet for Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho.
After he was rested for the Suomen Cup clash against SJK II on Wednesday, the Hale End product was reinstated in the starting lineup by manager Joaquin Gomez for the away game at AC Oulu on Saturday.
And the young goalkeeper showed why he is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation with another clean sheet in a 3-0 victory, his third successive clean sheet in the division.
Ejeheri was called up to a Flying Eagles training camp in January, ahead of the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, but club commitments prevented him from traveling to Abuja.
The first occasion he posted a shutout in Finland was SJK's first away match of the season at FC Honka on April 15, followed by another goalless draw against FC Lahti on April 22.
Against AC Oulu, Ejeheri was on holiday as the opponents were kept at bay by the SJK defenders.
AC Oulu only got their fist shot in extra time when Ejeheri easily saved an effort from Rasmus Karjalainen.
SJK are second in the Finnish Veikkausliiga standings with eight points, five less than table-toppers HJK Helsinki who have played a game more.
