Published: May 03, 2023
Alex Iwobi has been recognized for his outstanding performance for Everton in their exciting 2-2 draw with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on May 1, with celebrated football statistics website Whoscored naming the Nigeria international in its English Premier League Team of the Week.
After making an error in the build-up to Jamie Vardy's goal in the 33rd minute, Iwobi atoned for his mistake when he scored an important goal in the second half.
The 54th minute strike which was Iwobi's second Premier League goal of the season ensured the game finished in a draw as the Merseyside team battle to escape relegation.
In the Premier League Team of the Week, Iwobi is joined in midfield by Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, and Brighton & Hove duo Julio Enciso and Pascal Groß in a 4-4-2 formation.
Against Leicester City, the Super Eagles playmaker registered a game-high five shots with two on target, made a game-high three key passes, was accurate in 77.1 percent of his passes, while winning one aerial duel.
The Everton number 17 completed a team-high three dribbles, and registered a game-high five tackles.
Iwobi has started every single game played by Everton in the Premier League so far this season - thirty four in total.
