Chelsea make transfer decision on highly-rated midfielder of Nigerian descent
Published: May 04, 2023
Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly made a transfer decision on 19-year-old central midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka ahead of next season.
Football. London is reporting that the Blues are ready to listen to loan offers for the Anglo-Austrian-Nigerian player, who is in contention to represent the Young Lions at the upcoming 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
Chelsea won the battle to sign the highly-rated young midfielder last summer paying £20 million to Aston Villa for his services.
Former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel was said to have convinced the Chelsea hierarchy to secure Chukwuemeka's signature.
However, despite his pedigree as one of most exciting young players in English football,Chukwuemeka has found game time hard to come by.
He has featured eleven times for Chelsea in the Premier League, starting just once and coming on as a substitute on ten occasions.
Under interim boss, Frank Lampard, Chukwuemeka is yet to make the matchday squad but it's largely down to fitness issues as he suffered an injury in training after the March internationals.
Chelsea are ready to entertain loan offers for the former Aston Villa midfielder as they prepare for a summer clear-out.
The report added that Chelsea still rate him highly and they are not looking for an outright sale for the young midfielder.
Suitors would be lining up for his services considering the interest shown by various clubs before his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
