Pundit praises Madueke, explains how Chelsea's expensive signing can learn from him
Published: May 05, 2023
Football.London pundit, Scott Trotter has praised Noni Maduke for his performance for Chelsea in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Tuesday night and has explained how Chelsea's expensive signing, Mykhailo Mudryk can learn from the Super Eagles-eligible winger.
Maduke who got his first start under interim boss, Frank Lampard scored Chelsea's only goal and was one of the few Chelsea players that excelled on another terrible night for the Blues.
The former PSV Eindhoven star has found game time hard to come by since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, but interim boss Frank Lampard has assured him of more playing opportunities after catching the eye at Arsenal.
Just like Madueke, Mudryk also joined Chelsea in the winter transfer window as one of the most expensive players in history.
The Ukraine international has started just 5 league games for Chelsea since moving from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Trotter while looking back at Chelsea's loss to Arsenal told Football.London : "I think Lampard mentioned ahead of the game that he needs wingers who can also defend and do that side of the game.
"Perhaps that's the area of the game Mykhailo Mudryk needs to work on before he can really develop as a Premier League player.
"He had quite a free role to just attack for Shakhtar Donetsk and maybe understandably so given his pace.
"Madueke showed that endeavour. It took him a little while to get into Lampard's squad and he has kind of progressed into the first team quite quickly now.
"I think we will see him again this weekend, I think he has earned that right."
Mudryk has registered 14 appearances in all competitions with no goal but two assists for the Blues.
