Former Netherlands international advises Man Utd on who to sign between Kane and Osimhen
Published: May 17, 2023
Retired Netherlands international centre-back Jaap Stam has warned Manchester United against the signing of Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen and has urged the club to sign Harry Kane who is a proven striker in the Premier League.
Osimhen has helped Napoli end a 33-year wait for the Scudetto title scoring 23 goals in 29 games which also makes him the top scorer in the Serie A.
Manchester United have earmarked Osimhen as a target for this summer transfer window though Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane remains their first choice target.
The Red Devils are determined to address their goalscoring woes which have plagued them all season.
United have scored 51 goals in the Premier League this season, which is the second-fewest among teams in the top half of the Premier League table.
Stam while discussing why signing Kane will be more beneficial to Manchester United than Osimhen told Manchester Evening News: "Kane knows the Premier League very well, he's proven himself at Spurs and he's one of the best goalscorers in the world, he knows the level of play and what's been expected from him and what he can bring.
"So can you bring in a player like Kane and of course you would be doing a very, very good deal for United in bringing him in. I think Osimhen, he's a different type of player.
"For him, he needs to get acquainted to the Premier League at first. It can go fast, but it can also be a struggle at times as well."
The Super Eagles forward is also on the wishlist of Chelsea who sent scouts to watch him over the weekend and has been linked with PSG and Bayern Munich
