Burnley in early talks to sign Southampton's Anglo-Nigerian winger
Published: June 14, 2023
Newly promoted Premier League side, Burnley has begun negotiations with Southampton over signing Anglo-Nigerian winger Nathan Tella.
As reported by The Athletic, via Football League World, the Clarets are desirous of making a permanent switch for the right winger having spent last season on loan with them
Tella played a pivotal role in ensuring the Clarets regain promotion to the Premier League just a season after they got relegated to the English second-tier division.
The 23-year-old finished as Burnley's top scorer having scored 19 goals in all competitions and also providing five assists.
Vincent Kompany is ready to keep the Arsenal youth product as he prepares his side for a rigorous campaign in the Premier League next season.
He is currently under contract with Southampton till 2025 which means the Saints will demand a good amount of money for his services from Burnley.
However, it is understood that both parties will reach a compromise and Tella's move to the Turf Moor will be made permanent before the closure of the transfer window.
Having previously featured 33 times in the Premier League, his experience could come in handy for the Clarets as they seek to maintain their Premier League status beyond the upcoming season.
