Confirmed: Anglo-Nigerian fullback departs Southampton after seven years of service
Published: June 15, 2023
Through their official website, relegated Premier League club Southampton have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
Outside of the current first-team squad, the Saints confirmed that young professional Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2023.
The Anglo-Nigerian fullback departs Southampton after seven years of service to the club, having joined them as a schoolboy in 2016.
The 20-year-old rose through the ranks before establishing himself in the B team.
He is credited with 25 appearances for the Saints in the U18 Premier League and played in 37 games for the B team in the Premier League 2.
Otseh-Taiwo, who is the cousin of former Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo, is leaving the St Mary's Stadium without making his professional debut.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles players Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu have presumably been retained by Southampton considering the fact that their names were left out of the released list, and the same applies to England U20 winger of Nigerian descent, Sam Edozie and Princewill Ehibhatiomhan.
Aribo and Onuachu have three years left on their contracts, Edozie is tied to the club until June 30, 2027, while Ehibhatiomhan's deal runs out in 2025.
