Official: Three Flying Eagles-eligible players retained by Man Utd for 2023-2024 season
Published: June 16, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Premier League giants Manchester United have announced their retained and released list ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
Three Flying Eagles players, aged 19 and under, will remain on the books of Manchester United for the 2023-2024 season, provided they are not sold before the close of the summer transfer window.
Shola Shoretire, Maximillian Oyedele and Habeeb Ogunneye, who are all on professional contracts, are among the players aged under 24 as of June 2023 retained by Manchester United.
Shoretire and Oyedele spent the second half of last season on loan at League One club Bolton Wanderers and National League outfit Altrincham FC respectively in search of first-team football.
The winger appeared in sixteen matches for the third tier club, scoring one goal and providing two assists in 855 minutes of action.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Oyedele totaled twelve appearances for the fifth tier club, and was on the score sheet on four occasions, including a brilliant strike against Oldham Athletic which was nominated for the club's Goal of the Season award.
Ogunneye struggled with injuries last term which limited his appearances to nine games in the U18 Premier League.
Shoretire has yet to make a first team appearance under Erik ten Hag, he received call-ups for Premier League, Carabao Cup and Europa League matches last season but was not given minutes off the bench.
