Southampton demanding N14b to part company with Burnley target Tella
Published: June 18, 2023
Championship club Southampton have reportedly named their asking price for Anglo-Nigerian winger Nathan Tella.
According to The Sun UK, Tella is being priced out of a move to Premier League newcomers Burnley, with Southampton demanding £15 million (approximately N14 billion in Nigerian currency) for the 23-year-old.
Per the report, Burnley, coached by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, are unlikely to pay that much to sign Tella, who has two years left on his contract at Southampton.
Burnley are looking to sign him on a permanent deal after his impressive performances last season helped them seal an immediate return to the Premier League.
Tella joined Burnley last summer on a season-long loan with no option or obligation to buy included in the deal taking him to Turf Moor.
The winger mustered nineteen goals and five assists in forty five appearances across all competitions during his time at Burnley, and was named to the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
Tella has some Premier League experience, having played 33 games for Southampton before he was shipped out on loan to Burnley.
