Confirmed Super Eagles starting XI: Adeleye debuts; Ndidi, Iwobi midfield; Osimhen attack
Published: June 18, 2023
Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has announced his starting lineup for Sunday evening's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.
There are no prizes for guessing that Adebayo Adeleye has been chosen in goal - a decision that sees home-based duo Victor Sochima (Rivers United) and Olorunleke Ojo (Enyimba) named on the substitutes bench.
The Hapoel Jerusalem glovesman finally gets to make his debut for the senior national team, having previously been an unused substitute in four games.
Kenneth Omeruo and Semi Ajayi both start in central defence, with Zaidu Sanusi and Bright Osayi-Samuel covering the fullback positions.
The midfield is composed of Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo, who is making a return to the starting lineup after starting on the bench in back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea-Bissau
Up front, Victor Osimhen will lead the attack and he is flanked by Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon
