Left-footed Stevenage midfielder Tinubu agrees two-year deal with Manchester City
Published: June 19, 2023
More details have emerged about Sam Tinubu's imminent transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City.
The left-footed central midfielder was the youngest-ever player to feature for Stevenage in the Football League when he made his senior debut against Oldham Athletic at the age of 17 years and 18 days on October 16, 2021 until the record was broken by Makise Evans in April 2023.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Tinubu has accepted a two-year deal from Manchester City and will officially become a player of the club upon completing a medical at the end of this month when he returns from holiday.
Inserted into his two-year contract with Manchester City is an option for an additional season in the club's favour.
It is understood that the 2004-born player will initially start his Manchester City career with the development squad who are champions of the Premier League 2, and he's eligible to be included on Manchester City's Premier League roster as he's an U21 player.
Tinubu will bring versatility to the Manchester City U21s given that he is capable of playing as a central defender and midfielder.
The 18-year-old attracted interest from Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur had been in the driving seat for his services but the proposed transfer was hijacked by Manchester City.
