'Would be impossible for both parties' - Madueke rules out leaving Chelsea on loan
Published: June 20, 2023
England U21 international of Nigerian descent Noni Madueke has ruled out leaving Chelsea on loan in the summer transfer window.
The former Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur schoolboy returned to England in January 2023, putting pen to paper on a seven-and-a-half-year contract, with a club option to extend for a further year.
It wasn't always smooth sailing for Madueke after his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands as he found game time hard to come by.
He was left out of the Champions League squad and started only two out of a possible thirteen games in the Premier League in his first three months as a Chelsea player.
However, the exciting winger broke into Chelsea's starting lineup in the season run-in, starting five of the last six games in the Premier League, and caught the eye with his direct dribbling and quick feet.
"A loan spell would be impossible for both parties. I’ve been brought in and there’s a plan for me at the club," Madueke said to Standard Sport.
"I finished the season well, so next season is just about kicking on in the team and showing everyone the real me."
Madueke has been selected in the England squad for the upcoming 2023 European U21 Championship which is being held in Georgia and Romania.
