Super Eagles RB who learned his trade at Chelsea joins Nottingham Forest on 2-year deal
Published: July 21, 2023
Premier League side Nottingham Forest are on the verge of announcing the signing of Chelsea academy product Ola Aina.
The Telegraph UK broke the news that the Super Eagles right-back will join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer after flying into Spain on Friday to undergo a medical at the club’s training base in Valencia.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that Aina will put pen to paper on a two-year contract subject to passing with flying colors the medical examination.
A homegrown player, the former England U19 captain is joining the two-time European champions as a free agent after deciding not to extend his contract with Italian Serie A outfit Torino.
The 26-year-old has played mostly as a right-back for the Nigerian national team, but he's also a reliable alternative in the left-back, right wingback and left wingback positions.
Aina was at Chelsea for twelve years, rising through the youth team ranks to make six appearances for the Londoners in all competitions before his permanent departure in 2019.
He has some Premier League experience, with 34 games combined for both Fulham and Chelsea.
The versatile defender links up with international teammates Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis at Nottingham Forest.
