Anderlecht are making a late attempt to sign Chelsea's Cobham product Tudor Mendel- Idowu
According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano the Belgian outfit are trying to hijack Barcelona's move for the Flying Eagles-eligible who is a free agent.
Mendel-Idowu has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona but could be heading to Belgium with the latest report.
Barcelona are trying to recruit him to join their B side, Barcelona Atlètic who ply their trade in the Spanish third division and have also promised to let him continue his education at the club.
The English-born forward has been offered a professional contract by Chelsea but seems not to be ready to commit his long-term future to the club.
The right winger is blessed with good dribbling ability and was one of the best talents in the Chelsea academy last term.
He featured mostly for the Blues' 18s in 2022-2023 but made his debut for the development side in their win over Peterborough in the Papa Johns Trophy.
Mendel-Idowu's maternal grandfather John Adeleye-Abai played for the Super Eagles which further establishes his affiliation with the West African country.
