2023 Flying Eagles invitee scores in third consecutive pre-season game for Rangers B
Published: July 29, 2023
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Thompson Ishaka is on fire for the B team of Rangers, with the striker netting for the third consecutive pre-season game as the Light Blues thrashed Burnley 5-3 in a friendly on Saturday afternoon.
Ishaka registered his name on the scoresheet against Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven last Saturday and followed that up with another goal in a 3-0 win against Everton in midweek.
Rangers B boss David McCallum made five changes to his side for the Best v Best clash against Burnley U21s at the Rangers Training Centre, one of which saw the in-form Ishaka come into the starting lineup to support Zak Lovelace in attack.
Lowry opened the scoring for the home team with a powerful long range strike, before Bailey Rice doubled the advantage.
After the Clarets pulled one back, Alex Lowry slotted in the rebound to make it 3-1 after his penalty kick was saved.
However, the English side did not give up and netted from the penalty spot to reduce the arrears early in the second half.
In the 53rd minute, Ishaka scored Rangers' fourth goal of the contest when he pounced on a rebound and slotted past the Burnley goalkeeper, and it would be his last act of the game as he made way for Josh McPake.
Ishaka's replacement McPake increased the lead to 5-3 and Burnley reduced the deficit in the closing minutes.
