Confirmed: Talented centre-back Collins swaps Borussia Dortmund for Eintracht Frankfurt
Published: August 09, 2023
Through their official website, German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have announced the signing of Germany U19 international of Nigerian descent Nnamdi Collins from Borussia Dortmund.
The talented central defender has appended his signature to a five-year contract, until 2028, and in doing so ended his seven-year association with Borussia Dortmund.
Born in Düsseldorf in 2004, Collins began his career with Fortuna Düsseldorf before joining Borussia Dortmund, where he progressed through the club's youth team ranks to make his senior debut for the reserve team in the 3.Liga.
Although the transfer fee has not been disclosed, the fee being mooted is in the region of one million euros.
Collins was an influential member of the Dortmund squad that won the German U19 title in 2022 and captained the squad a year later in the A-Junioren Bundesliga West and UEFA Youth League.
Overall, he made 86 appearances for Dortmund's U17, U19 and reserve teams, scoring eight goals while producing four assists.
Collins is provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth and has played in fifteen games for Germany's U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 national teams.
The 19-year-old will be aiming to make his Bundesliga debut with Eintracht Frankfurt in the coming seasons.
