Luton Town confirm squad numbers for two Nigerian players ahead of inaugural PL season
Published: August 09, 2023
Luton Town have confirmed their squad numbers ahead of the club's inaugural campaign in the English Premier League.
Two Nigeria-eligible players in the shape of Gabriel Osho and Elijah Adebayo have been assigned squad numbers by the Hatters.
Osho has taken a new shirt number for the 2023-2024 season, switching to the number 2 from number 32 he wore for two seasons.
Luton Town's number 2 jersey has been worn by Cody Drameh, James Bree, Martin Cranie, James Justin, Stephen O'Donnell, Fraser Franks, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Dan Gleeson and Claude Gnakpa in the past.
Adebayo will wear the number 11 he has been using since the 2021-2022 campaign, in what was his first full season with Luton Town after transferring from Walsall.
Osho played a key role as the Hatters secured promotion to the top-flight, making thirty appearances combined in the regular season and Championship playoffs, while Adebayo was involved in 45 matches, including 42 starts.
The aforementioned Nigerian players have no Premier League experience and will be hoping to make their debuts at the American Express Community Stadium on Saturday when Luton Town face Brighton & Hove in their first-ever game in the Premier League.
Two players with Nigerian background Ross Barkley and Chiedozie Ogbene have been assigned the number 6 and 7 shirt respectively.
