'My time is now over' - Nigeria-eligible attacker bids farewell to Chelsea
Published: August 10, 2023
Norway U21 international of Nigerian descent, Bryan Fiabema has taken to social media to confirm that he has left Chelsea.
The promising attacker departed Stamford Bridge as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the two-time European champions on June 30, 2023.
Former Tromso wonderkid Fiabema, once the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut in the Norwegian Eliteserien until the record was broken by Antonio Nusa, joined Chelsea in January 2020 following a successful trial.
He has left the London club without making his senior debut though he trained with the first team on some occasions, especially during the international break.
Fiabema will be best remembered at Chelsea for finishing the 2021-2022 season as the development squad's top scorer with eight goals to his name in all competitions.
The 20-year-old took in loan spells at Rosenborg and Forest Green Rovers, making 28 appearances combined for both clubs and directly participated in nine goals.
In his farewell message to Chelsea, Fiabema wrote on Instagram on Thursday: "Feel so lucky and grateful to have been a part Of this Club! My time at the club where I went from a kid to a man is now over for this time. Wishing The whole Club and people here all The best! Been a big pleasure".
Fiabema has been linked with Real Sociedad and two-time Polish champions Śląsk Wrocław.
