Leicester on brink of signing jack-of-all-trades Chelsea starlet amid uncertainty over Ndidi's future
Published: August 11, 2023
Championship club Leicester City are on the brink of completing the signing of Chelsea starlet Cesare Casadei.
Should the deal go through as expected, the 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup Golden Ball and Golden Boot winner will provide competition for Ndidi in the middle of the park at the King Power Stadium outfit if the Nigerian is not sold.
Casadei is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to the midfield role as the Italy U20 sensation is capable of playing as a holding midfielder, central midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and attacking midfielder.
Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano revealed this morning that his compatriot will be joining Leicester City on loan from Chelsea, subject to him passing a medical booked for Friday, August 11.
Ndidi has started both matches played by Leicester City in the new season and was on target against Burton Albion to help the Foxes advance to the second round of the Carabao Cup.
However, with a year left on his contract, the future of the Nigeria international is up in the air following Leicester City's relegation to the second-tier of English football.
Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, plus Nottingham Forest and teams in Saudi Arabia are reportedly monitoring the situation of the experienced midfielder with a view to making a swoop for his services this summer.
Casadei's imminent arrival at Leicester City means Ndidi has to improve his performances to be a shoo-in in the starting lineup if he does not move on to pastures new before the close of the window.
