Super Eagles defender Bassey returns to Ajax seventeen days after transfer to Fulham
Published: August 14, 2023
Calvin Bassey returned to the Netherlands on Monday, August 14, seventeen days after Fulham officially announced the signing of the Nigeria international.
Ajax Amsterdam confirmed through social media this afternoon that Bassey was present at the Sportcomplex De Toekomst for the practice match against Go Ahead Eagles.
The video shared by Ajax showed Bassey having a light-hearted discussion with Ajax U21 manager Dave Vos and assistant trainer of Jong Ajax, Urby Emanuelson.
It is not yet known the real reason behind Bassey's trip to the Netherlands.
The Leicester City academy product could not make his Premier League debut at the weekend as he remained rooted to the bench during Fulham's impressive 1-0 road win against Everton.
Issa Diop partnered Tim Ream in central defence, with Antonee Robinson slotting in at left-back for the entirety of the game.
Bassey has signed a four-year contract with Fulham, with a club option to extend by a further 12 months, and has been allocated the number 3 jersey for the 2023-2024 campaign.
In total, Bassey logged 39 appearances for Ajax, scoring one goal and producing five assists.
