Chelsea confirm Super Eagles-eligible midfielder has undergone surgery after knee injury
Published: August 22, 2023
Through their official website, Chelsea have provided an update regarding the injury of Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 19-year-old picked up an injury towards the end of the first half in Chelsea's loss to West Ham on Sunday at the London Stadium.
The London-based side has revealed that the England youth International suffered a knee injury and has undergone surgery.
He will work with the club's medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham.
Chukwuemeka joins Christopher Nkunku, Armando Broja, Reece James, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana in the treatment table.
The injury to the Aston Villa Academy product would be a blow to Mauricio Pochettino who is now without a number 10 in his squad.
The Argentine tactician has not had the best start to his life as the Blues' manager having failed to record a victory in his first two Premier League games.
He will be hoping his side can pick up the maximum points when they host Premier League newcomers, Luton Town on Friday at Stamford Bridge.
