Harry Kane's replacement: Tottenham prioritise the signing of Chelsea target over Gift Orban
Published: August 22, 2023
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly prioritized the signing of Nottingham Forest striker Brennan Johnson over Genk marskman Gift Orban.
The Lilywhites are in the market for a centre-forward as a replacement for club legend Harry Kane who recently completed a transfer to German champions Bayern Munich, and at least four strikers are being considered.
According to Teamtalk, Tottenham are expected to bid for Brennan Johnson who'll be their de facto replacement for Harry Kane, and the Nottingham Forest striker favours joining Spurs over Chelsea.
Per the report, Johnson favours joining Tottenham over Chelsea because he'll receive more playing time.
Manager Ange Postecoglou wants to reduce the size of his squad before making a bid for the Wales international striker ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
Apart from Johnson and Orban, two other strikers are being considered by Tottenham Hotspur, namely experienced Porto player Mehdi Taremi and Lille's Jonathan David.
As extensively reported by this website, Tottenham have opened a line of communication with Orban's camp over a transfer but the deal is not advanced at this stage as the north London club have not made an official bid for his services and personal terms have not been discussed at all.
Fulham are also mulling over a bid for Orban who has a contract with Gent until June 30, 2027.
