Everton lose ninth consecutive game Super Eagles midfielder Iwobi did not play in
Published: August 26, 2023
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi missed Everton's loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on matchday 3 of the new Premier League season played at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
The only goal of the encounter was scored three minutes before the stoppage time.
Pedro Neto produced a beautifully lofted cross into the box, where Sasa Kalajdzic was in a perfect position to convert the ball into the net with a precise header.
Before that, Wolves' forward Fabio Silva had his goal chalked off for offside while Abdoulaye Doucoure's goal for Everton was also ruled out for the same.
The Toffees lost today for the ninth consecutive game that they have played without Iwobi which is proof of his importance to the squad.
They have lost to Wolves twice, once to Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove, Norwich City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace respectively without the dynamic midfielder.
The Hale End Academy product got injured in the Toffees' loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
There is no date yet regarding the return of Nigeria International but it appears that he is going to miss the Super Eagles' 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against São Tomé and Príncipe on September 10 in Uyo.
