Everton manager delivers transfer update on Fulham target Iwobi ahead of deadline day
Published: August 31, 2023
Everton manager Sean Dyche has revealed that the Merseyside-based club are open to selling Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi.
Iwobi has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park with news emerging that Fulham want to acquire his services.
The Cottagers' boss Marco Silva wants a reunion with Iwobi having been in charge of Everton when the Nigeria international arrived from Arsenal in 2019.
Dyche while addressing the media in his press conference ahead of the Toffees' Premier League encounter against Sheffield United on Saturday confirmed Iwobi's exit links
The English football tactician also revealed that the Hale End Academy product could leave Everton before the end of the transfer window due to his contractual situation.
In quotes relayed by Liverpool Echo, the 52-year-old said: "There's a few circling a few of our players, [Iwobi's] one of them.
"The obvious thing that I think has been apparent, though I had to spell it out last week, the club have to look at the business side of it; a player with a year left [on his contract]."
The 9-time English champions have offered the Nigerian midfielder a contract extension but he seems to be unwilling to extend his stay at the club.
The 27-year-old is currently injured and missed Everton's defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
He is also set to miss the Super Eagles 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers' tie against São Tomé and Príncipe.
