'It's a lot of money' - Club Brugge teen star Nusa reacts to Chelsea's N25b deadline day bid
Published: September 08, 2023
Club Brugge teenage forward Antonio Nusa has acknowledged that Premier League giants Chelsea missed out on a deadline day move for his services.
Chelsea are always in the market for the most exciting young talents in the world and attempted to bring the Norway international of Nigerian descent to Stamford Bridge last week by making a bid of 30 million euros (approximately N25 billion in Nigerian currency) but Club Brugge rejected the offer.
Nusa's intermediary, Atta Aneke has close ties with Chelsea, having brokered the deal that took Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
Nusa has seen his stock sky rocket of late, having forced his way into Club Brugge's starting lineup in the new season, making seven out of a possible eleven starts in all competitions for the Belgian side.
Just yesterday, Nusa became the the second youngest goalscorer in the Norwegian men's national team, aged 18 years and 144 days when he opened the scoring ten minutes into the friendly against Jordan.
When asked to react to the deadline bid from Chelsea, Nusa said to TV 2: "It is a lot of money. Much money. But I try not to think about it too much. I can't focus on it, like. I don't think it's good for me.
"I try not to think about the money at all. There's a lot of money in football, so that's not what's on my mind. It is where I can develop best and become as good as possible."
Nusa is the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut in the Norwegian Eliteserien, aged 16 years and 43 days when he played his first game in the division against Rosenborg on May 30, 2021.
