Wrexham boss explains why it's important deadline day signing from Arsenal, Okonkwo has settled well

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has revealed that Super Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has settled in well to life following his deadline day move to The Red Dragons.

The Hale End Academy graduate has switched to Wrexham on a temporary basis in search of regular game time, something that manager Mikel Arteta cannot offer him, with Aaron Ramsdale and summer signing from Brentford, David Raya ahead of him in the pecking order of goalkeepers at the Emirates Stadium.

Okonkwo spent the first half of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra and finished the campaign at Sturm Graz, whom he helped to win the Austrian Cup.

On his competitive debut for Wrexham, the 22-year-old kept his seventeenth career clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Newcastle United in an EFL Trophy clash on Tuesday night.

Reflecting on Wrexham's transfer business in the summer, Phil Parkinson told the club's official website: "They’ve [George and Arhtur] settled well, and I chatted with both of them this morning to discuss various things and that they were settling in okay.

"It’s so important in particular for Arthur because he is moving up from London and he’s got his accommodation sorted now which is great.

"The quicker we can get players settled, the more beneficial it is for us as a Club."

Okonkwo is in contention to make his League Two debut for Wrexham on Saturday against Doncaster Rovers.
