Arsenal announce UCL squad: The four players of Nigerian descent eligible for List B
Published: September 12, 2023
Premier League side Arsenal have confirmed their UEFA Champions League List A squad following the close of the summer transfer window, with no Nigeria-eligible player making the cut.
Manager Mikel Arteta has named 25 players on the roster which must contain a minimum of eight locally trained players and three goalkeepers.
The Spaniard can supplement his squad with the outstanding players in the academy and the deadline for submission is 24.00CET on the night preceding each match throughout the competition.
According to UEFA's regulations, a player may be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 2002 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday (players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years).
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ovie Ejeheri, central midfielder Miguel Azeez, striker Henry Timi Davies and attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri can be included on the List B as they have all been on the books of Arsenal for more than two years.
Ejeheri and Azeez have been at the Arsenal academy since the age of five, Nwaneri joined the London club at the age of nine, and Davies was snapped up from Manchester City at the age of sixteen.
Arsenal have been drawn against Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens in the group stage of the Champions League.
