Official: 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup star Amoo departs FC Copenhagen for Omonia Nicosia
Published: September 13, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Cypriot First Division club Omonia Nicosia have confirmed the signing of Golden Eaglets' 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup star Akinkunmi Amoo.
The winger has ended his association with FC Copenhagen after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal deal with Omonia Nicosia, until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
The 21-year-old joined FC Copenhagen in January 2022 on a five-year deal but failed to make an impact due to injuries and off-the-field issues.
Amoo could only manage four appearances for FCK across all competitions throughout his stay at the club and scored just one goal.
Prior to his move to Denmark, the 21-year-old played for Swedish side Hammarby IF where he made his mark, scoring 13 goals in 48 all-competition appearances.
With injuries limiting his development during his time at FC Copenhagen, the 2022 Super Eagles invitee hopes to get his career back on track with Omonia Nicosia.
Amoo becomes the second Nigerian with the Cypriot division outfit with Francis Uzoho being the other.
